Welcome to Matamata Fishing Club

Welcome to Matamata Fishing Club

Now in our 34 year the Matamata Fishing Club came to be after a meeting of like minded people in 1990. The idea was thrown around by the late Tom Carley and myself and after a meeting held in the Matamata Club by interested parties the club was born.

I was lucky enough to be President for the next sixteen years and in that time the Club has gone from strength to strength, helped along the way by some wonderful committee people, some of them are now Life Members of the Club.
Here we are twenty five years on and I am back at the helm as President and very proud to be there, we have a great committee in place that are working well together to carry the club into the future.

Our Club Competition are held on the first weekend each month, except for August and January.

I believe the success of our club can be put down to the fact that we have always based our club around the family and it is awesome for me to see so many women and children at our weighins having fun and joining in on the festivities.

The Club has now formed a good working relationship with the Matamata Gun Club and we share their club rooms out by the Matamata Refuse Centre, Come along, see what we are about and I'm sure you will be keen to join up like so many others.

Another major part of the clubs success can be attributed to our sponsors, to many to list them all here but each month we have excellent support from local companies, without them the club wouldn't be what it is today.

Thank you to you all,

Happy Fishing
