December January Newsletter 2019 / 2020

President's Report

Hi and welcome to 2020, the start of a new decade, and of course a new year. For those who were at our last competition for 2019, the 7th and 8th of December, you would have had a great time. The crowd was one of the biggest we have had for a while and even Santa made an appearance.

I must say the alterations to the club are awesome and the few scruffy showers that went through weren’t a problem. A very special thanks must go out to our sponsors of course; with them the club would not give you, the members, the wonderful line up of prizes that were there, and all included in one yearly fee. So, on that note a special thanks to Comag, J Swap Contractors, Goldenflow, indulgence Beauty and Spa, and of course that awesome Kayak lucky member draw from Viking Kayaks.

Our next competition should be a very good one. It will be held on the 1st and 2nd of February for all categories and something a bit different this year. The committee has decided that because it is looking like a good year for game fish, and the yellow fin seem to be around in reasonable numbers, that you can fish for game fish categories only on the Friday as well. It would be very exciting for everyone to see a marlin or yellow fin weighed in.

Make a real effort to be involved as there is an amazing line up of prizes thanks to our awesome sponsors: Splice Construction, Begovich Builders, Matamata Sportsworld, Matamata Butchery and of course those awesome meat packs from the very generous Holmes Family. A very special congratulations to Josh Bungard on the 2nd of January, he landed his first Marlin, was a real great day caught on our new boat “Hard Yakka”, special thanks to the rest of the crew of Mike Autridge and Phil Stevens, nice work lads.

Happy fishing see you all in February
