February Newsletter 2020

President's Report

Hi all, wow it’s getting dry around our district, this is causing a fair bit of stress for many so I hope you can take a break and get a line in the water. This is what a couple of our local lads, Jeremy Bennett and Matt Dalton, did recently and bagged themselves a Marlin at Waihou Bay, nice work lads.

Our February comp was another very good one and a lot of fun was had by all. It’s really awesome when you get such good feedback on how good our weigh ins and prizegivings are from people who belong to other clubs. Brownie, Phil Steven’s mate, comes up all the way from Fielding because he enjoys the atmosphere so much, fantastic ah.

Special thanks must go out once again to our sponsors: SportsWorld; Begovich Builders; Splice Construction; Matamata Butchery; and of course that fabulous beefy from Terry and Carol Holmes and family. Please members, where you can support these people that support us, I can’t emphasise enough how important this is to the future success of our club.

Next comp is a beauty, it’s looked forward to every year, the big fish. This comp has been a huge success for years now, put together many seasons ago by very well respected local businesses: Challenge Matamata; Matamata Veterinary Services; PlumbCo, King Electrical; Matamata Marine; and of course for our children and grandchildren, Waharoa Transport, many thanks to you all.

Two very important things to be mindful of for this comp are 1) Take the little ones out, and 2) Friday is a game fishing day so get out there and get the big one.

Happy Fishing,  Bungey
