November 2023

President's Report

I hope all is well with everyone.

Our November competition has been and gone. It was great to see an increase in numbers attending the competition, including new members, and to see some of our sponsors in attendance.

We had some great fish weighed in this competition including our first snapper over 20lbs for the year, weighed in by Hughie McKean.

We had an amazing line up of prizes from our local retailers and our local business owners. We as a Club are extremely grateful for their continuing support and we thank them all very much.

Please where you can get behind those who support us as we come into the summer season.

Our December competition is now on the second weekend of the month, the 9th and 10th, due to the Christmas parade being the first weekend of the month.

The Matamata Fishing Club will be put[1]ting in a float for the Christmas parade. Any ideas or suggestions will be welcome. Last year was very successful, with it being the first time we did this as a Club. Santa will be at our December competition prize giving. Please bring along a small present, clearly named for your kids and/or grandkids, and Santa will happily give them out on Sunday evening.

Our long time and awesome sponsors for our December competition are Comag, Vercoe Insurance, Indulgence Beauty and Spa, Fairview Motors and J Swap Contractors. We would also like to say a big thank you to the Swap Family for donating their launch for an overnighter. This was ably auctioned by John Price and the successful bid was from Lynette Stanley, owner of Matamata Mitre 10, who is also a wonderful sponsor of our Club. We are looking forward to seeing you all at our Christmas weigh in, if not before at the Matamata Christmas parade.

 Happy fishing,

Phil
