September 2022

President's Report

Hi and welcome to our new season.

22/23 is underway and got off to a very good start. While we were there, there was plenty of enthusiasm. I am also very pleased to say there was a good turnout of the family units, plenty of smiling happy children and happy mothers as the kids filled their tummies with delicious fresh fish, great to see.

The last couple of years have not been easy with the complications of a pandemic to contend with. Because of that it has not been an easy time for a lot of the businesses that so wonderfully support our club. I am really pleased to say they are all back on board so far for the new season. September competition saw one of our long-time regulars of course, Matamata Mitre 10 and the team from Waikato Nulook, both fantastic local companies, so please support them where you can.

This coming October competition should be a very good one for sea fishing, it is one of the best times of the year, and the opening of the trophy lakes in Rotorua. There will be a great line up of prizes from long time sponsors Daltons, Directional Drilling, Chooky’s Auto, and very pleased to say a new one this year, Kevin Anderson from Wheelie Bin Services, so all you have to do is get out and catch the fish.

If you wish to weigh in fish for the Sport Fish section (i.e.) Snapper over 5kg please present it to the weigh master gutted and gilled but retain the guts and gills in a bag to weigh with the fish, this just makes life a lot easier for our hard working weigh in team.

Happy fishing
