November Newsletter 2025

President's Report

Hello team and Welcome to our November newsletter.

It was great to see a good turnout at the Club last competition with some nice fish being weighed in. Heaviest Trout went to Stephen Butcher weighing 3.19kg. Glen Clothier’s crew caught some nice Kingfish, the heaviest going to Beau Mitchell with a 10.32kg fish. I took a crew to Mayor Island and probably had the best fishing I’ve had for years. The Heaviest Snapper was 6.28kg. Our prizes on offer for the October Competition were very well received. A special thank you to Daltons for the most amazing amount of products they give. Also a huge thank you goes out to Chooky’s Auto, Matamata Directional Drilling and Wheelie Bin Services. We really do appreciate your sponsorship and support.

In conjunction with our November competition, we are running an Open Day at the Club, for people to come along and see what the Club is all about. As an incentive we have put up $1,000 for the Average Weight fish for adults! Along with $100 for the Average Weight fish for the kids. You must be a financial member to be eligible to enter for these prizes.

Please everyone if you know someone keen on fishing or someone that owns a boat, encourage them to join our fantastic Club. There will also be some auctions run at our Sunday prizegiving including a fantastic opportunity to fish on the Swap Family launch. There will also be spots on other local boats to be auctioned and some other great goodies. Come on down as it is always entertaining. We will also have the BBQ going with sausages and hot chips along with our usual beautiful cooked fish!

Our November competition is a 3-day competition from Friday 7th through to Sunday 9th November. Let’s hope the weather plays its part. It will be great to see you all and any new members at the Club whether you go fishing or not. We have a huge array of sponsors for our November competition for which we are very grateful.

There is a group from the Club that has grown from 9 last year to 20 venturing to Houhora, many for the first time. No doubt there will be some good stories to be told! The Matamata Christmas parade is approaching rapidly. Please get your thinking caps on as it is a great way to expose our Club to our community and it is a lot of fun.

All the best for the November competition,

happy fishing,

 Phil
