March Update 2026

Hi Members,

Welcome to our email update

March Competition is over 3 days, Friday 13th, Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th

President’s Report

Welcome to our March newsletter. It was great to see a good number of families and members turn up at our February competition. Unfortunately, there was no Marlin caught.

A huge thank you to our February sponsors which included the Stihl Shop Matamata, Riverhaven Rod and Reel Repairs, Begovich Builders, Matamata Butchery Limited, Top Cru, Bob Autridge and Trade Zone.

Our March Competition is our Big Fish Competition sponsored by King Electrical, Plumbco, Challenge Matamata, Matamata Marine and Farm Veterinarian Matamata FVM.

The Competition was designed to take people out of their normal comfort zone and catch the bigger fish. Please note that all fish weighed in for the Big Fish Competition must be whole weights. Qualifying fish are

Marlin over 90kgs

Kingfish over 10kgs

Tuna over 10kgs

Snapper over 5kgs

Trout over 2.5kgs

Tag & Release Marlin, will be equivalent value of 100kg Marlin, with photographic proof, with date stamp

No Sharks

All weights are whole fish weights

We will still be running our normal competition kindly sponsored by Wrightway Builders, Comag, TradeZone and Waharoa Transport for the Kids Competition.

There are some great prizes up for this month's competition thanks to our awesome sponsorship.

Where possible please try to support the people that support our Club.

Our March competition is run over 3 days, Friday the 13th, Saturday 14th and Sunday the 15th. So let's hope the weather plays its part and we see some nice fish over the weigh station.

All the best,

Phil
