June Newsletter 2025

President's Report

Hello team,

Welcome to our May/June newsletter. We unfortunately had to postpone our May competition by a week due to weather conditions. This decision is never an easy one to make but after consultation with the Committee we decided to run the competition on the third weekend instead.

A big thank you to our May Sponsors, Matamata Tractors & Machinery, Phil Stevens Racing, Whitehall Shoeing Company and Piako Rural Services Ltd, there support is always greatly appreciated.

We were light on numbers for the May Competition but there were some nice fish weighed in. The winning Snapper of 5.93kg was weighed in by Phil Stevens. Hadlee MacPherson, one of our junior members, weighed in a lovely Trout at 2.97kg. There was also a Blue Nose weighed in at just over 10kg. The MacPherson family also took out the Duck prize with three ducks weighed in by the family.

Our June competition is kindly being sponsored by Laurent Contractors Ltd, New World Matamata and Vercoe Insurance Brokers. Also welcome to another new sponsor, Kaiser Ag. Your support is greatly appreciated, and please remember to support any of our sponsors where possible.

The June competition is our last fishing competition for the season and with the points being so close in a few categories a lot will come down to this competition. So get out there and try to secure your points.

Planning for our July Hunting Competition is under way and will come around quick. Dates for this are Friday the 11th of July to Sunday the 13th of July. Keep an eye on our newsletter and social media for updates. Due to a few people being away, any help to run this competition would be much appreciated. Let’s hope the weather plays its part for our June competition and we can all get out for a fish. Good luck team.

 Kind regards, Phil
