July Newsletter 2025

President's Report

Hello team,

 Welcome to our July newsletter.

Unfortunately, due to our weather, we were a little light on numbers.

However, there were some very nice fish weighed in. The heaviest Snapper going just under 5 kilos to Grant Dixon and Terry MacDonald with a nice Kingfish at 10.410 kilos. Not to be outdone by the adult fisho’s, we had a large number of Eels weighed in by our junior members. The heaviest going to Lilah Harland with an Eel at 6 kilos, what a great effort!

A big thank you to our sponsors for this competition, Laurent Contractors Limited, New World Matamata, Vercoe Insurance Brokers, and also to our new sponsor, Kaiser Ag.

Please, where possible, support our sponsors as they are a very important part of our Club.

July brings our Hunting Competition, from Friday the 11th of July to Sunday the 13th. Weigh-in is between 2pm and 4pm. Rules can be found on our Facebook page, or by making contact with the Club. Please note, there is no Fishing Competition in July.

The Hunting Competition is kindly supported by Waikato Stud. A lot of work goes on behind the scenes for this competition, so a huge thank you to all the people involved. Once again, we have had unbelievable support from sponsors for this competition. Entry forms can be completed online. The cut-off date for entry is the 4th of July so get them in quick.

We would also like to welcome the Hunting & Fishing store to Matamata. Entry forms for the Hunting Comp are also available in store. Do drop in and see Quentin and Scott.

Another important event coming up is our Prizegiving on Saturday the 9th of August. Those of you with trophies, could you please get these to either Hornsey at Matamata Butchery or myself so these can be engraved. Our next big event is our AGM on Wednesday the 13th of August. Anyone with any ideas or suggestions to keep our club going forward please turn up to our AGM and have your say. You are all most welcome.

Kind regards,

Phil
