February Newsletter 2017

President's Report

Hi all, wow another comp has come and gone. It was a good one aye.
Without a comp in January of course February is our kick off for the year. We
had a great turn out with heaps of kids, parents and grandparents coming along to
show off their catches. Once again we had an amazing line up of
prizes. A top one for each category and of course what we all love, heaps of spot
prizes and lucky member draws. A special thanks must go out to our awesome
sponsors. I hope you all realise how very fortunate we are to have these local
businessess supporting our club. Believe me, we are the envy of many fishing clubs
all over the country. Now you can do your bit by supporting
them where you can: Begovich Builders,Sportsworld, Splice Construction and the
Holmes Family.
Now for our next comp and thanks to, once again, our great sponsors: Challenge
Matamata, Matamata Vet Services, Plumb Co, King Electrical, Matamata Marine and
of course covering our Junior section, Waharoa Transport – it will be a beauty.
Don't forget for Marlin, Tuna and Kingfish it is a 3 day comp starting midnight Thursday
and for all other categories it is normal rules starting midnight Friday.
We have a bit of confusion over the Phil's Motorcycle Catch Of The Month. Thanks
to Phils generosity we have 10 of these each season as we do have 10 comps.
Catch Of The Month for January was Scott Darroch's Kingfish. Now because we don't
have a January Comp the Catch Of The Month for December doesn't really get
any acknowledgement, this of course was a magnificent snapper of over 25 pounds
caught by Hughy McKean.
The committee have discussed this at our latest meeting and from now on the
Weigh Master and Points person will choose a Catch Of The Month at each
comp from fish weighed in that day, this means of course the prize will be relevant
to fish caught at each comp instead of the month previous.
Now get out there, get the kids out there and make this comp another good one.
Don't forget there will be lots of prizes for young and not so young.
Happy Fishing
Bungey
