President's Report

Hi All,

Wow what a great way to start the new season, the weather was not good but we still got one hundred people to our weigh in for the September competition, it was so good to see. The really cool thing was that many hadn’t had the opportunity to go and fish, weather etc, and yet they still came along to enjoy the festivities of the evening. I would also like to comment on the fact that 30 of them were kids, and in many cases they had “told” Dad & Mum, hey we want to go to the fishing club, cool ah.

September being the start of our new season, and the first get together after the AGM, it makes me very proud to be back at the helm as president and I thank you all for your support, most of our committee from last season have stayed on, due to family and personal commitments Jamie, Craig, and Muzza have stood down from our team, many many thanks guys for your input over the years. On the good news side of the story we have a new crew on board, Pieter and Weiner Nel, Darrell Conder (Chooky), Garth Fawcett, and Arrum Ali, I am really looking forward to working with these guys, I’m sure they will be excellent additions to an already great team.

I would like to say a thank you to our very wonderful sponsors for the September competition, our very own Mitre 10 and Sign Tint, Lyn and Craig are excellent supporters of the club and we thank them very much.

Our Sponsors for the October competition are also very good long time supporters of our Club, Daltons, Allenco Marine, Matamata Directional Drilling, and I am very pleased to welcome a new sponsor for October Darrell (Chooky) Conder. Darrell and Annette of Chooky’s Auto Station have very kindly joined our fantastic sponsors team and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them very much. I would like to take the time to make a special mention and say a great big thank you to Murray and Suzie Wilcox, Murray has been a marvellous supporter of our club for many many years and I’m sure you will all agree with me when I say, we have really appreciated it guys. While we are on sponsorship things just keep getting better and better, Pieter and Weiner Nel have put up two $50.00 Vouchers each month, Arrum Ali has decided to push the Landbase side of things with a Jackpot $50.00 a comp for the biggest Kingfish off the rocks and Wayne and Michelle Jones, an overnighter for two in their Coromandel Caravan, many thanks to you all.

“Please Note” all the Sunday comp weigh ins are now going to remain at 4pm till 5pm all year round, this has meant a big commitment by all the committee to get there early, but they all feel it is in the best interest of the “family” involvement at the club, all getting cleaned up, the prize giving done and still getting you all safely home at a reasonable hour.

Happy Fishing
