March Newletter 2018

President's Report

Hi all, hope all is good with you and you are setting aside a bit of time to put a
line in the water. I am really pleased to say the March comp was another good one. We had a funny weekend with blue skies overhead but out at sea there was quite a strong wind, particularly on the east coast. The cool thing is, regardless of that, and the fact that quite a few didn’t get out, we still had a good turnout at the weigh in and prize giving.

This is one thing that I’m loving about the club at the moment, never mind if people can’t fish, families are still coming to the prize givings to be involved. It is becoming, and is, a real social family event and it is so cool to see all the kids sitting there at prize giving with a smile from ear to ear.

A big special thanks must go out to our long time March Big Fish Sponsors, Challenge Matamata, Matamata Veterinary Services, PlumbCo, King Electrical, Matamata Marine, and of course for the kids, Waharoa Transport. Please, when you are spending that hard-earned dollar, give our sponsors a go.

Our next comp is on the 7th and 8th of April and should be a very good one. April is a great time of the year to fish, big Snapper are about and there is also a great chance of picking up a late season Marlin. April has some very supportive sponsors,

Matamata’s very own LJ Hooker’s Jack and Colleen have continued a long relationship with the club and we all very much appreciate it. Matamata Auto Services and Electrical, Brian and Kerry, and of course for the kids again, Waharoa Transport, Glen and Sharon. Get out there everyone and make this comp a beauty. Make a real effort to get the kids out on the water.

I would like to also acknowledge and thank our regular monthly sponsors, please check out your sponsors page and keep them in your mind, people like Arrum Ali, Wayne and Michelle Jones, the Juddys etc are just everyday people who love to support our club, isn’t that awesome?

On a housekeeping note, please people, under our licensing alcohol must be purchased through the bar, don’t be tempted to bring your own stash along and drink it at your vehicle. This is not a growl but please, we do keep our bar prices down to cater for you, and remember, profit from the bar goes back to you, the members. Thank you.

Happy fishing, Bungey
