President's Report

Hi, no doubt you have noticed a wee nip in the air recently, yes autumn is on our doorstep. With autumn comes some very good fishing and if you were at our last comp you would have seen some very nice snapper weighed in. A big congrats to Peter Nelmes (Jelly) for taking out the big fish competition, apparently, he could not have done it without the watchful eye of skipper Phill Stevens, and of course fellow fisho Kevin Dare LOL, of course not. His winning fish was a magnificent snapper of just over 22 pounds.

Due to the last lockdown we had to delay the comp a week, this didn’t affect the crowd though and a lot of fun was had by all who attended the “BIG FISH” comp. This is always a good one and I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank the sponsors, without the team at Matamata Marine, Challenge Matamata, Plumbco, King Electrical, Matamata Veterinary Services, and of course for the awesome Kids comp Waharoa Transport, the comp would not be what it is today.

The next comp should be a beauty. It falls on Easter Weekend, so four days fishing fun with family and friends. This comp should be a very good one with awesome longtime sponsors LJ Hooker, Matamata Auto Services and Electrical and of course for the kids once again Waharoa Transport.

This year prize giving is celebrating 30 years of the club, come along and help us make it a very special night. Mark the 14th of August on the calendar, now it will be at the Matamata Club where it all began, with Stitch and the boys providing a very good live band to dance the night away.

Happy fishing,

 Bungey
